For a new beginner to the Club this is their friendly and encouraging starting point! So if anyone is interested in having a go at short mat bowls come along to Stokenham Parish Hall on a Friday or Sunday afternoon from 2pm to 5pm where you will find yourself made very welcome. Equipment will be provided initially and experienced members will be on hand to help.
Charity Bowls Drives
The Club supports the Devon Air Ambulance charity and over the past 27 years have collected in excess of £3,000. Proceeds from the raffle together with 50% of our normal session fee is donated on average twice a year. Teams and positions are drawn every four ends and the person with the best overall score is awarded a small prize.
In House Competitions
As a Club we very much enjoy playing in what is known in the club as the 'Friendly Games' which very much involves all members of the club, including those that do not wish to play in league matches. Albeit as part of a long standing tradition members are expected to wear the Club colours - blue jersey, white top, grey trousers or blue jersey, white top, grey skirt.
Summer Friendlies (2018)
David Sidwell - (Chair of Bowls Committee)
During the summer, the club arranged friendly matches against Stoke Fleming and the annual four match series against Slapton. The two matches against Stoke Fleming were played on a home and away basis with Stokenham the overall winners.
The club has a very strong relationship with Slapton and every game is played in a friendly but competitive way. After the first game,Slapton had a commanding lead of twenty six shots. With the second match at Stokenham, the home team were hoping to improve the situation and again home advantage helped and the deficit was cut to five shots. The third match at Slapton proved to be better for Stokenham and only losing by nine shots! The overall deficit is fourteen. With all to play for, the final match on 13th September will be keenly fought and very much enjoyed!
