Annual Social Events
The Club hold a number of annual social events which over the years have become well established and form a major part of the social structure of the Club. Events that are extremely well organised and enjoyed and well attended by nearly all of the members of the Club and for Quiz nights this also includes people from the community.
The Lavis Cup Competition & Supper - January
This is an extremely enjoyable afternoon & evening event when members play in competition matches during the afternoon followed by supper in the evening.
The Lavis Cup and Party was first introduced in memory of Fred Lavis who enjoyed competitive play within a social atmosphere. An event enjoyed by members ever since. Both Fred and his wife Mary were founder members of the Club with Fred the bowls treasurer for many years.
Annual Dinner & Awards - April
It was in 1994 that it was decided to have an Annual Dinner & Awards Ceremony when trophies would be presented to the winners of the Club’s internal competition matches. For many years it was held at the Stoke Lodge Hotel in Strete before moving in more recent years to the Thurlestone Golf Club in Thurlestone. The event is normally held during the third week of April each year.
Quiz Evenings
The Club normally hold two Quiz Evenings a year hosted by our Secretary and Fixtures Secretary - Ann & John Cadman. Next quiz
Saturday 4th March 2023. Doors & bar open at 6:30pm for 7:30pm start. Teams of 4, £8 per person. A very enjoyable evening.
